| This Buttondown shirt features our `Ie`ie print in Cyan and Robin Egg.
This was one of my first aloha shirt designs. The `ie`ie plant grows in the uplands and is often placed on the hula altar because it is kinolau, a vegetable form of Laka, Hawaiian goddess of the dance. The aerial roots were woven into various baskets, including traps for mountain fish and shrimp. Look closely and you'll see that I have included my name as part of the design. This is the only design with that feature!
Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai`i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Buttondown is an open front, tapered shirt with a full length placket. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Fabric is machine-washable 100% cotton broadcloth. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha! |
